Editorial Scope
Frelovan Compendium is an editorial archive focused on everyday food choices, satiety and appetite patterns, and the experience of hunger across the working day. The scope of the publication is defined by these core areas: foods that keep you full, eating rhythm, meal spacing, protein and fullness, fibre and satiety, whole grains and hunger, and mindful eating pace.
The compendium addresses these topics from an editorial perspective — through considered observation, engagement with published nutritional research, and field documentation by contributing writers. It does not address specialist nutrition, supportive dietary interventions, or the management of specific conditions. Readers seeking guidance relevant to their own daily routines should approach the content of this archive as informational reading rather than directed advice.
Article Selection
Articles published in the compendium are commissioned by the editorial team based on their relevance to the archive's core focus areas. The selection of subjects follows two criteria: relevance to the experience of everyday food choices and appetite in a working-week context, and the availability of published research or documented field observation on which a considered record can be based.
The compendium does not publish sponsored content, promotional material, or editorially compromised articles of any kind. Articles are not solicited from commercial entities, nor are commercial relationships permitted to influence the direction, framing, or conclusions of any record in the archive. All commissions are made at the editorial team's discretion, based on their assessment of editorial merit.
Guest contributors are assessed on the basis of their previous writing, their demonstrated familiarity with evidence-informed nutritional communication, and the quality of their proposed subject. All guest contributions are subject to the same editorial review process as internally commissioned articles.
Research Standards
Articles in the compendium draw on two primary sources of material: published nutritional research, and editorial field observation by contributing writers. Where claims are made on the basis of published research, the relevant source is identified within the article text. The compendium does not reproduce unpublished or proprietary research.
Writers at the compendium are expected to engage with primary sources wherever possible, rather than relying on secondary summaries or media reports of nutritional research. Where secondary sources are used, the original research is identified alongside them. Articles are expected to characterise the strength and limitations of the research they draw on, rather than presenting provisional or contested findings as settled fact.
Field observation — documented accounts of eating patterns, appetite experiences, and food choices drawn from the direct observation of contributing writers — is labelled as such within article text. The compendium distinguishes between evidence derived from published research and evidence derived from editorial observation, and regards neither as wholly equivalent to the other.
Editorial Review
Every article published in the compendium is reviewed by at least one editor other than the commissioning editor before publication. The review process addresses accuracy of factual claims, clarity of argumentation, appropriate characterisation of sources and their limitations, and adherence to the compendium's editorial standards.
Commissioned articles may be returned to the writer for revision before the review stage, or after it, if the reviewing editor identifies significant issues of accuracy, clarity, or editorial appropriateness. The commissioning editor makes the final decision on publication, having taken account of the reviewing editor's assessment.
Images published in the compendium are selected or commissioned to illustrate the editorial content of articles. All images published on the site are either original editorial photographs or images cleared for editorial use. Image captions are descriptive and accurate. No image is published without an accompanying alt-text description, which is composed with the same care as the surrounding article text.
Editorial Independence
Frelovan Compendium is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with any commercial, institutional, or governmental body. No commercial relationships, advertising partnerships, or sponsorship arrangements exist or are sought. The editorial team does not accept payment from any party in exchange for favourable coverage, or in exchange for the direction or content of any article.
The compendium's editorial team operates under a conflict-of-interest policy that requires disclosure of any personal or professional relationships that might affect the objectivity of any article. Where a potential conflict exists, the article is assigned to an alternative editor for review.
The compendium does not accept affiliate marketing arrangements, product placements, or commercially motivated link insertions of any kind. Internal links to other articles in the archive are included on editorial grounds only — to direct readers to relevant related records — and not for any commercial purpose.
Corrections Policy
The compendium is committed to accuracy. When errors of fact are identified in published articles — whether by the editorial team, by contributing writers, or by readers — they are corrected promptly and noted publicly within the article text. The nature and date of the correction is recorded at the foot of the affected article.
Corrections to factual errors are distinguished from updates that reflect new research or changed circumstances. Where an article is updated to incorporate new evidence, the update is noted and dated. Where an article's conclusions are substantially altered by new evidence, the editorial team considers whether a new record is more appropriate than a correction to the existing one.
Readers who believe they have identified an error in a published record are encouraged to contact the editorial team at [email protected] with the relevant details. All correction requests are reviewed by the editorial team and responded to within five working days.
